Shrimp Harvesting

Camaronera Muro Bonito takes great care in producing the best quality shrimp. Below you will get a glimpse of the harvesting process and how the shrimp are managed so that they go immediately from water to ice, as is required by all seafood. Our experience and commitment to excellence have earned us the reputation as producing the highest quality shrimp in the area.

The harvest begins when the flood gates are opened. The shrimp are taken by the water current out of the pond. The harvest takes place at night and preferably with a full moon, which provides a better environment for the shrimp.

The shrimp are caught in netted stockings. They are lifted out of the water and into ice/water bins.

The shrimp are then taken from the ice bins and placed on prescreening tables. Here any fish, grass, or stones that may have been brought along with the current are taken out and thrown back into the creek.
